What’s Old is New Again

“Kong: Skull Island” is a nice take on an old story. Set in the 1970’s, a team of scientists along with soldiers and adventurers explore an uncharted island that has somehow escaped notice despite humans having mapped out every speck of land on the planet by now. Once on the island, they stir up the proverbial hornet’s nest and find themselves fighting for survival against natural wonders never before encountered including a giant gorilla named Kong. Exciting visuals and a well told story that’s not bogged down with unnecessary fluff, this is probably one of the best reimaginings of King Kong and I normally do not care for remakes. Oh, and stay seated after the credits for a post credits scene.
