At first, I thought it was just a few people on the blog feed making something out of nothing just to have something to bitch about but then I saw a couple people on Twitter and then this on IMDB It’s an article about a character in the upcoming Zoolander sequel. Apparently, just from the trailer of all things, a segment of the population is supposedly offended and is up in arms over the whole thing. You got “We’re going to make jokes in bad taste about the transgender community” from a 10 second snippet of a comedy? At least wait for the movie to show in full and get the whole context of the scene before passing judgement. And don’t bash the actor portraying the character as he just pops onto a set, puts on a costume, and says a few lines in a movie that is supposed to not be taken seriously. He’s not out to offend anyone, and if you knew anything about any of his work you would know this. Comedians have been making jokes for centuries, sometimes poking fun at anything from politics and political figures to stereotypes. Sometimes yes, a joke can be taken too far but for the most part people ignore it if they don’t like it. Too many people get easily offended these days and are ready to fight. Here’s an idea: why don’t we just stop having comedy altogether, nobody laughs at anything and the world becomes more miserable than it already is, how does that sound?
