Don’t Ask Silly Questions

Have you ever been asked why you wore certain articles of clothing? Bet it gets annoying right? Some people just need to ask stupid questions I guess and damn if I wasn’t always in a situation where I had to appear professional to an extent, I could really lay the sarcasm on thickly. I so want to. Went to the doctor’s yesterday to get some refills on my prescription and the doctor asks me why I was wearing a shirt that said Canada on it. First time I got that question about the shirt its usually my jacket people inquire about. Now usually when one wears a shirt with the name of a place on it, it is usually because (1) maybe they visited that place and the shirt is a souvenir, (2) it was cheap and needed, or (3) the person could be from that place. Now as you all know I am not from Canada but from the good ole U.S. of A., but I live close to Canada (can get there in 30 minutes or less from where I live) and have on occasion visited our neighbors across the river. The one particular incident which promted me to get the shirt is actually very simple. I was visiting a friend in Exeter, Ontario during the Canada Day and independence Day weekend a few years back and being summertime I did not think to take a jacket with me on the trip. Afterall, Exeter was only a 3 and a half hour drive northeast of Detroit. My friend informed me that the nights get kinda cool even in the summer so I took advantage of the close proximity of the town’s main street which is lined with many shops. Being the time of year that it was, many shops had a whole bunch of Canadian themed stuff. I needed something to keep me warm while partying at my friend’s place and I spotted a dark sweatshirt with CANADA embroidered onto the chest. Hey a functional souvenir! And I swear that thing is my most comfortable sweatshirt I own. So don’t question my patriotism based on a souvenir I bought to keep me warm while on holiday.
